Physical Education (PE)

At Mount Macedon Primary School, Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in supporting the physical and social development of our students. All students participate in an hour of PE each week, where they learn the basic skills associated with a wide range of common sports and activities. Our program not only focuses on improving physical fitness but also emphasizes teamwork and good sportsmanship, values we believe are crucial both on and off the field.

As proud members of the Macedon Ranges Sports Association, we regularly compete in a variety of sports throughout the year, including swimming, tennis, soccer, football, netball, basketball, cross country, and athletics. These competitions provide our students with exciting opportunities to apply their skills in real-world settings while fostering school spirit and a sense of community.

Our PE program encourages all students to participate, grow, and experience the joy of physical activity in a supportive and inclusive environment.

 

Art

At Mount Macedon Primary School, art is an essential part of the curriculum, providing students with a creative outlet to explore various artistic techniques. All students participate in Art once per week, engaging in a varied and stimulating program of instruction in Visual Art that spans from Foundation to Year 6. Digital Technology (DigiTech)

From Foundation to Year 6, students are introduced to a wide range of digital tools and concepts, helping them develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative abilities through technology.

Our DigiTech curriculum covers essential topics such as coding, digital systems, data collection, and online safety. LOTE

At Mount Macedon Primary School, our LOTE (Languages Other Than English) program provides students with the opportunity to explore new languages and cultures, broadening their global perspective and enhancing their communication skills. Music

Our Music program, which spans from Foundation to Year 6, offers a variety of engaging experiences designed to foster musical talent and a love for the arts.

Students participate in a range of activities, from learning key musical concepts such as rhythm, pitch, and dynamics to exploring different instruments and vocal techniques. Highlights of the program include exciting incursions like African Drumming, where students experience the rich rhythms and cultural significance of drumming firsthand. Additionally, Year 6 students have had the unique opportunity to watch Baker Boy live during their camp, adding a memorable and inspiring experience to their music education.

The Music program emphasizes creativity, confidence, and teamwork, with students regularly performing in class and at school events. These experiences not only enhance their musical skills but also contribute to a deep appreciation for the art of music.
